We Appreciate Your Time and Your Talents
At Courageous Connections, horses and humans do something remarkable together - they help each other heal, grow, and discover what is possible.
None of that magic happens without our volunteers.
Last year alone, volunteers gave over 7,000 hours of their time, their skills, and their hearts. From ages 11 to 82, our volunteers consistently tell us the same thing: this experience changes them just as much as it changes our participants.
You can join our herd to support our participants, our horses, and our farm through your care and effort to keep the animals fed and our farm looking beautiful. You can be a part of this inspirational and heartwarming experience and make a difference to everyone here that we connect with at Courageous Connections.
Quick FAQs
Time Commitment: No minimums and no maximums! We work with your available time, share what is needed and encourage open communication about your ideas on how to make improvements.
Training: We will provide the training you need for any opportunity you are interested in - like being an Arena Volunteer!
Location: We are in the north Lake Stevens, WA area of Snohomish County. More details will be shared once we can start a conversation!

Volunteer Opportunities
Arena Horse Volunteers
Be The Calm In The Arena
Your 'horse sense' will be invaluable to our arena participants as you honor the talents, abilities, and character of each one.
We need volunteers who can focus on and respond appropriately to the needs of the horse during unmounted working sessions. You will be the horse leader, taking directions from our instructors and staying aware of the environment to keep everyone safe. You must be 18+ years old and have significant horse experience.
Not quite there yet? No problem! Many of our best arena volunteers started in the garden or on the farm. We’ll grow together.
Farm & Animal Volunteers
Get Your Boots Dirty Doing Work That Truly Matters
Our farm is home to a lively herd of horses, goats, and chickens. They provide the healing we provide the habitat. If you love staying active and seeing the immediate results of your hard work, this is the place for you.
How you’ll help our herd:

Daily Care: Cleaning stalls, refilling water troughs, and filling feeding stations.

Land Stewardship: Assisting with fence repairs, grass maintenance, and storm cleanup.

Farm Upkeep: Seasonal projects to keep our environment safe and beautiful for our participants.
The Reward: You’ll head home knowing the animals in your care are fed, safe, and loved and in our world, that is everything.
This is also the best place to start if you want to work towards being an Arena Volunteer!
Garden Volunteers
Plant A Seed, Watch It Grow
We have a garden to help engage additional senses! If your talent is planning, designing, offering new ideas or you are someone who loves to get their hands in the dirt and see things grow, we need you today! Harvesting help is also needed when we have excess crops to donate to the local food bank. As you may already know, this area is highly impacted by the weather and season!
If plants are your passion, we invite you to share in our expanding garden!
Business Volunteers
Business Savvy? We Need You Anytime & Anywhere
You do not need to be on the farm to be part of our “herd”! Our business volunteers are the backbone of our operations, keeping our mission visible and our doors open to those in need. .
We are looking for expertise in:
