Our Vision for the Garden

More Than a Place to Grow Food

When we applied for the grant to purchase our farm, we envisioned an abundant garden that would be more than just a place to grow food.

We imagined a welcoming, accessible, thriving garden where people of all ages and abilities could find peace, connect with nature, and take time to reflect whenever they were on the property.

Year One

Breaking Ground

In May 2024, we were so excited to take the first step into building the garden as we officially broke ground! Before we could plant even one plant, the soil had to be significantly improved to support our plan.

Determined to move forward with hands-on labor and funding, we learned the practice of sheet mulching to rebuild healthy, fertile soil from the ground up. Thanks to the support of Springbrook Nursery, we were able to source and receive affordable soil deliveries that helped bring the project to life.

Building for Everyone

Accessibility at the Heart

Accessibility has remained at the heart of the garden's design. We installed asphalt paths and built raised beds so that individuals who cannot easily bend or kneel could comfortably participate in planting and harvesting.

Volunteers, along with teams from Whole Foods and Grove Church, generously helped build picnic tables and compost bins, creating spaces for both gathering and sustainability.

Giving Back

Our Community Impact

Once the garden began producing, just 18 months after breaking ground, it was already giving back in a meaningful way.

400

of fresh produce donated to our community, through a partnership with the Lake Stevens Food Bank and a free Farm Stand open to neighbors and farm participants year-round.

Year Two

Growing Deeper Roots

"This garden has truly been a labor of love, and we are only getting started."

Thanks to generous donations from Sunnyside Nursery, our orchard and berry plants are now in the ground, and seedlings are filling the raised beds with new life. Every visit to the farm now includes the scent of blossoms, the promise of fruit, and the quiet joy of watching something grow.

Looking Ahead

Plans & Goals For Year Two

Looking ahead, we plan to develop new spaces that create even more opportunities for learning, healing, and connection.

Children's Garden

A dedicated space designed to spark curiosity and a love of growing in young visitors of all ages and abilities.

Serenity Garden

A tranquil retreat creating opportunities for healing, quiet reflection, and deep connection with the natural world.

The Labyrinth

This Spring/Summer, a local Scout is building a labyrinth as her Eagle Project, a meaningful place to pause, reflect, heal, and reconnect.
